Abstract: Objective: Relationships among life-events, potential moderating factors (hardiness) and mental health variables were assessed. Methods: 448 adolescents in Beijing were assessed using the Per-sonality Hardiness Questionnaire for Adolescent (PHQA), the adolescent Self-Rating Life Events Check List (ASLEC), the Life Satisfaction Scale, the Affect Balance Scale, the State-Trait Anxiety In-ventory, and the Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire. Results: Regression analysis showed that perseverance factor of hardiness moderated significantly the relationship between life-events and mental health (including life satisfaction, affect balance and anxiety), and the interaction of per-severance and positive coping had significant moderating effect.
